A two-act opera performed in Italian.
As with the still very mysterious personality of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, several of his works conceal strange secrets. Not only those that have long been mystified by the circumstances concerning the origin of the famous Requiem, but also concerning the elusive compositional genius of the composer himself. These are mysteries around the content, standing in front of audiences and performers as questions as to how to understand and interpret particular operatic works and their ideological message. The comedic opera Così fan tutte is one such opus. Basic doubt falls on the genre of the work itself - is it indeed a comic opera or do the comically presented events in fact have the most serious meaning and effect? The tentative exchange of fiancées reveals the unexpected and irreversible truth among young couples. And doubts are contained in the question as to who is actually the victim and the person at whom the strict finger of moral judgment is pointed. These are women, as the name suggests (“All women are the same”) or should it be renamed Così fan tutti (“All men are the same”)?
